With its breathtaking views of deep valleys, Ô Quy Hồ Pass (also known as Trạm Tôn Heaven’s Gate) is a recommended destination for Western travelers looking to explore by motorbike. The area features several scenic viewpoints, including the famous Rồng Mây Glass Bridge and Sa Pa Heaven’s Gate. Ô Quy Hồ Pass stretches nearly 50 km along National Highway 4D, starting from Sapa. One-third of the pass is in Lào Cai province, while the remaining two-thirds belong to Lai Châu province, ending at the Tam Đường junction. The pass is also known as Hoàng Liên Sơn Pass because it traverses the Hoàng Liên Mountain Range, or Cloud Pass due to the year-round mist, even during summer.

Climbing Fansipan, the “Roof of Indochina,” is a must-try experience for adventure enthusiasts. The best time to visit is from February to April when rhododendrons are in full bloom. According to The Travel, wandering along the trails allows visitors to enjoy the scenic mountain slopes, seas of clouds, and forests adorned with blooming rhododendrons. Photo: Unsplash
The cable car system to the summit of Fansipan in Sapa holds a world record for the highest elevation difference between departure and arrival stations (1,410 meters). Each cabin can accommodate 25-30 passengers and features large glass windows, allowing visitors to easily enjoy the views, take videos, and capture photos. This provides a simpler experience for those unable to hike to the top of Fansipan. Photo: Unsplash

At an altitude of over 1,800 meters, Hàm Rồng Peak offers visitors a panoramic view of Sapa town. In the evening, it’s an ideal spot for those who enjoy the beauty of light displays as the town lights up and becomes enveloped in clouds. To reach Hàm Rồng Mountain, visitors need to go to the central square, walk behind the church, and climb the stairs. Photo: Bùi Xuân Việt.
Strolling around the square is a familiar experience for visitors whenever Sapa lights up. The small square is always filled with a festive atmosphere. Here, tourists can choose to wear traditional attire and participate in unique cultural activities. The best time to visit the church is early in the morning when the rising sun illuminates the giant cross. Photo: Ngân Dương
