For 54-year-old Gary Herbert from Australia, deciding where to undergo major dental treatment was not something he took lightly.

Before travelling to Vietnam, Gary had been dealing with several dental problems. He described having issues with crowns, missing teeth and an upper denture that did not fit properly. With several concerns affecting his mouth at the same time, he began researching different treatment options and clinics.

Gary already knew someone who had travelled overseas for dental treatment and chosen a different clinic. Rather than simply following the same path, he spent time looking into his own options.

“I looked around as well, just to try and get the best results we could possibly get,” he explained.

After his assessment, Gary underwent extensive dental treatment involving the removal of his remaining teeth, followed by the placement of six implants in the upper jaw and six implants in the lower jaw. His new teeth were then fitted onto the implant-supported restoration.

Speaking after treatment, one of the things Gary emphasised most was how comfortable his new teeth felt.

“I’m feeling very comfortable. Very, very comfortable.”

Gary also discussed his choice of Swiss implants during the interview, identifying the brand as Straumann. He said he had researched different products before making his decision and was very happy with the implants he received.

His experience in Vietnam also gave him the opportunity to speak with other international dental patients. While staying at his hotel, Gary met people who had undergone treatment at other clinics and compared their experiences with his own.

For Gary, those conversations reinforced how pleased he was with his own result.

“They have not got the same result that I have, and I’m extremely impressed.”

When asked to rate his overall experience, Gary gave a clear answer: 10 out of 10.

He described the people involved in his treatment and care as “absolutely fantastic” and summed up his experience with one word: “Faultless.”

Gary’s story reflects the importance of doing careful research before travelling for dental treatment, asking questions about implant systems and treatment options, and taking the time to choose an approach that feels right for the individual patient.
